A big thanks to Yoga Journal for including my Am I Blue mobile in their December 2017 gift guide article, "Elemental Gifts" by Elizabeth Marglin (see p. 22 in the print edition or online here). In the spirit of the season and to welcome happy yogis everywhere, I’m excited to share 5 life lessons from your everyday mobile:
Seek balance. On or off the mat, balance doesn’t always come easy. Yet your job is just to be patient and persistent. And then *be* okay with wherever you are. Because balance – just like art – is always more about feeling than fact.
Trust. When life swirls you for a whirl, the trick is to trust that you’ll come back to your center – and as you spin full circle and around again, remember to find joy in the journey.
Show your colors. In this season of dark days and gray grays, be bright, be light, and don’t be afraid to show your color might!
Get moving. Mobiles move. It’s what they do. It’s who they are. So, our lesson here is simply MOVE! Your body. Your thoughts. Move those you love and those you meet just once. Move from places you’ve been stuck. Move the dial. The dialogue. And the direction of your life. Don’t wait. Don’t put it off. Don’t delay. Just move.
Keep it simple. There’s not much to a mobile: Simply add a little air and watch the magic happen. Sometimes less really is more, especially when it comes to sharing a smile, a kind word, or the gift of presence.
What other lessons do you see in the swirly whirl? As we move into the new year, I’d love to hear a “lesson” you’d like to live out loud. Feel free (and encouraged) to comment below. Cheers and happy holidays!
