Tipu
“Cordelia Rose Wood Preferred Red Apples Over Green Except On Tuesdays, But She’ll Never Tell You Why.”
Like each of the nine mobiles in The Samara Series, Tipu (aka Rosewood) is a one-of-one design. In other words, this mobile will never be reproduced. It is signed and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Size. Approx. 31” tall x 29” wide.
Wada Colorway #154. Molotow Zinc Yellow, Raspberry Red, Tulip Blue, and Blue Gray Dark.
Construction. Made with 32-gauge galvanized steel metal and 14-gauge galvanized steel wire.
Entirely handmade in Portland, Oregon. Handcrafted design from mobilist Mark Leary.
The Experimentals include free-floating sky-drawn wire arms and wire tail.
Did you know the Tipu tree is a close relative of peas, beans, and peanuts, but instead of bean pods, it produces samaras. Oh, and it also oozes a deep, blood-red resin when cut.
Please note: I am not affiliated with Alexander Calder or the Calder Foundation. “Calder” is a trademark of the Calder Foundation.
